Obama’s call for a college playoff seems to have gotten some serious attention in Congress.  Joe Barton, R-Texas has been talking about a playoff in NCAA Division 1 FBS football for some time, but Orrin Hatch, R-Utah is now holding anti-trust hearings about the BCS in the Senate after Utah’s perfect record last season still wasn’t enough for it to have a bid at the national championship. This is in response to legislation introduced by Gary Miller, R-California (H.R. 599, which is a bill modeled after Title IX).

Since the voice of the fans hasn’t proved to be enough, hopefully some of these Congressmen will be able to make a difference.  While I don’t think it is appropriate for the government to legislate on how college sports determine their tournament, I dislike the BCS system even more, and so am not opposed to it. :)
