In November, Mitt Romney, who for years has helped failing businesses turn around and become profitable, called for supporting the free market and allowing the auto companies to go bankrupt.
On Monday an article hinted at labeling the bailout in a way that Washington refuses to acknowledge: nationalization.
I read two articles this morning about ways that America can actually help the auto industry without simply writing a check:
How Bankruptcy Would Benefit GM
The 7 Wrong Ways to Rescue Detroit
I completely agree with these experts. At what point will we as a nation accept the fact that the free market involves downturns as well as upswings, times of famine as well as times of plenty, and that if we want to continue to enjoy the benefits of the last two centuries of a free market economy, nationalizing industries left and right is not the way to do it.
I found a great site this morning that shows you who all of your elected representatives in government are, from the President down to your Village Councilman. Simply put in your zip code, and it will provide you with links to send emails to your representatives. Telling our elected officials how we feel about current issues is the only way that we can have a voice in how our tax dollars will be spent. Don’t just talk about it: Write your Congressman today!
