My friend and I registered for the lottery for the St. George marathon the other day. The marathon is run October 4, 2008, and is a qualifier for Boston. It looks like a fun race – I went to St. George for the first time a few weeks ago, and it is GORGEOUS. So, I entered. A few days ago, I got a notification in my email that I was not one of the lucky participants chosen for the race. There were 10,500 entries for 7,000 spots (so I had a 67% chance of getting in), but I didn’t. They actually have a clause where if you register two years in a row and aren’t selected on either one, then you are guaranteed for the third year. So at least I won’t have to wait forever.
